Excel copy and paste allows the company to copy timesheet data into Direct Time Entry from an Excel spreadsheet. This is especially helpful if a company does not have access to the web-based products, as they can still record timesheets in Excel and then copy them into Eralis Job. It is also useful if the user does not have access to core Eralis Job. The Excel spreadsheet can be sent to a user that does have access, and then pasted into Eralis Job.
For this process to work, the first row of the Excel spreadsheet must match the visible titles on the Direct Time Entry screen. Please note that the order of these titles does not have to be the same, but the titles on the two screens must match. The minimum information required for the spreadsheet includes:
- Subjob ID
- Employee
- Quantity
- Item Number
It is important to understand that the information in the spreadsheet takes precedence over the default information from the system. If minimal information is imported, the system will fill in the remaining information by default. However, the user can paste additional information into the system from the spreadsheet, which will then take precedence over the default information. If information is added into the Excel spreadsheet and then re-copied into the timesheet, the new information will take precedence over the default.
When the required information is copied in Excel, it can be pasted into the Direct Time Entry screen in SAP Business One using the You Can Also button at the bottom of the window. The information will be copied over when Import Excel Transactions is selected.
