Job resource types are simply a way to group together resources, be they staff resources or equipment resources. The grouping structure can be used for grouping resources into teams, branches or for a variety of other reasons. This provides some additional flexibility to manage these resources. The resource types can then be applied to both staff and equipment resources. This means that one resource group can contain both job resource types. For example, a team of staff members and a vehicle to transport them could be in one group.
The resource type grouping is primarily utilized with the scheduling tool inside Eralis Job. The scheduling tool uses drag and drop functionality to allocate staff and equipment to jobs. This allocation can be done using a single resource or the entire resource group. When referencing resources in Eralis Job, the primary reference is to equipment resources. These resources are non-staff related assets that are owned by the company that are used on a job. Items that would fall in this category include company vehicles, equipment and several other items.
By tracking the use of the equipment, the company can recover the use cost from the customer, and gain a clear understanding of the profitability of the equipment owned.
