Time types are attributes that can be applied to all time-related transactions. This includes staff and resource timesheets, as well as quote lines for staff and resources. Time types provide the ability to apply a multiplier to both the charge-out and cost rate of staff or resource transactions. This allows the company to increase the cost and charge-out rates for work that occurs outside of normal working hours, such as overtime and double time rates. The system has three default time types:
- Standard
- Overtime
- Double time
The standard time type is required by the system and cannot be deleted. The multipliers cannot be changed from the default of one. Additional time types can be added to the system to meet the company’s specific time recording needs. The setup for time types is under the Administration > Setup > Job > Transaction Attributes > Job Time type sub-menu.
The system has three default values, but the company can create additional values as required and apply a multiplier to the cost and charge-out rates. The cost rate multiplier does not have to be the same as the charge rate multiplier; they can be set as different values. Once they have been created, they will be available in the various time entry transaction screens. This includes direct time for staff and resources, as well as quote entries. When a user applies a time type, the cost and charge out rates on the transaction are updated based on the multiplier that is assigned to that time type.
